I live in Minneapolis near the Chain of Lakes where I walk, run, and bike on the trails and around the lakes.
I grew up running the trails around the neighborhood I grew up in and ran the wooded trails in Duluth while attending college at UMD. That's where I was inspired to run Grandma's Marathon. Many more races followed including the Turkey Trot, Bonnie Bell, the In Yan Teopa, and the Ragnar. I'm also an avid biker and I practice yoga regularly. Sunrise yoga at Lake Harriet is my favorite because it takes place on the waterfront during the summer months.
I love to read, do photography (both digital and film) and travel. I spent two months traveling throughout Europe after college and lived in Costa Rica for a year, where I studied Spanish and taught English as a Second Language. I also attempted to learn how to surf; although I got up on the board on occasion, I was more successful at learning to ride my bike to the beach while carrying my surfboard.
My travels have also brought me to Mexico, Canada, Peru, and throughout the United States where I have hiked, kayaked, skied, and camped.
I'm a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth where I was the co-editor of the Arts & Entertainment section of my college newspaper and graduated with a B.A. in communications and journalism. I attended the University of St. Thomas, where I received a Master's Certificate in Business Communications, and I have a TEFL Certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from Hamline University.
I have worked as a writer for more than 12 years and I most enjoy writing about health, fitness, and wellness.
